COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) -- Good Friday morning! It's a cool and comfortable start to the day, with temperatures dipping into the low 60s for most spots. Some rural and northern areas are even seeing morning lows in the 50s.
Once the sun comes up, we'll enjoy plenty of sunshine early on. However, clouds will gradually build through the day—expect partly sunny skies by midday, becoming mostly cloudy by this evening. Highs today will top out in the low 80s, and it'll stay breezy.
Tonight stays mostly cloudy and mild, with lows settling back into the 60s.
The weekend starts off dry and mostly cloudy on Saturday. By Sunday afternoon, we're watching for a chance of showers and even a few rumbles of thunder.
Much of the News 3 viewing area is still dealing with moderate to severe drought, so the rain chances heading into early next week will be welcome. Isolated showers and storms are possible through the first half of the week.
Looking ahead, a cold front is expected to arrive late next week. There's still some uncertainty on whether it fully clears the region, but if it does, we could finally see a break with drier, less humid conditions.
