Tuskegee man arrested in Auburn for stealing vehicle from business near Opelika Road

AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) — A Tuskegee man is in custody after being accused of theft of property in Auburn.

According to Auburn police, with the assistance of the Shorter Police Department, 23-year-old Dion Jaquan Pickett was arrested following an incident that happened on Monday.

Investigators say officers spoke to a complainant who reported a vehicle being stolen from a business located in the 800 block of Opelika Road and Pickett was developed as the suspect.

Officers with the Shorter Police Department then located the vehicle on Wednesday, with Pickett being in close proximity to it, according to Auburn police.

Picket was then taken into custody and was charged with first-degree theft of property, along with resisting arrest.

He was treated for a self-inflicted injury that occurred while he was detained in a police vehicle and eventually transported to the Lee County Jail and is being held pending review by the Alabama Department of Pardons and Paroles.
