LeBron James is set to continue playing in the NBA next season, but it will reportedly be with another team.
According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, James has informed Los Angeles Lakers that he intends to play elsewhere for the 2026-27 campaign, ending an eight-year partnership with the franchise.
The four-time NBA champion joined Los Angeles in 2018 and helped deliver the team’s 17th league title in 2020. During his stint with the Lakers, he remained one of the NBA’s top performers despite entering his 40s.
Last season, the 41-year-old forward averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game, helping Los Angeles finish fourth in the Western Conference before advancing to the second round of the playoffs.
With James expected to leave in free agency, the Golden State Warriors have quickly surfaced as one of the leading contenders for his services.
James has yet to publicly reveal where he plans to continue his career. However, reports indicate that the Warriors are expected to aggressively pursue the NBA’s all-time leading scorer as free agency unfolds.
