During the operations, subject Abordo sent his trustee/messenger later known as Johny Villagonza Calawigan, 32 years old, single, resident of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. Calawigan transacted with the poseur buyer and police asset. Upon consummation of the transaction, he was placed under arrest, handcuffed and asked on the location of subject Abordo. Upon learning that Abordo was waiting up ahead parked along the side of the road, the team immediately rushed to the described heavily tinted Ford Escape colored yellow bearing Plate Number XRA-738 and introduced themselves as police officers and ordered them to disembark from the vehicle. However, instead of heeding the instruction, a shot was fired from inside the vehicle aimed at the approaching officers and hit the confidential police asset causing gunshot wound in his left ribcage. The team returned fire while ordering the arrested, Calawigan to stay down.
As the team were trading fire with the suspects, one operative had to bring the wounded asset to a hospital. While seeking cover and returning fire, Calawigan in handcuff, managed to get in the driving seat and commandeered the unmarked vehicle of the operatives and sped off towards west direction. With this development, the operatives together with responding operatives of Police Station 3, tried to pursue the fleeing suspect onboard their vehicle but to no avail. Meanwhile, a team from the 23IB, Phil. Army, responded to the scene and kept watch of suspects’ vehicle (Ford). SWAT also arrived and cleared the suspects’ vehicle and its immediate surroundings. It was then that they found one casualty seated at the back seat right side portion. He was identified as Reynaldo Labares Abordo A.K.A. Opaw, the primary target of the buy-bust operation. The other occupants managed to escape from the scene but were eventually arrested after follow-up operations on information provided by the community.
