Have you ever noticed how when you're looking around in certain retail stores or shopping malls, salespeople are bound to follow you around and try to sell you something? While this may seem annoying at times, these salespeople are just doing their jobs.
They constantly scope the floor on the lookout for a potential customer. And if you hang around long enough, sooner or later, you're bound to get their undivided attention. However, as one Thai man found out the hard way, this isn't always the case, especially if you're dressed like a poor person.
The man who came to be identified as 'Leng Ducha' sported tattered clothes, slippers, a bone necklaces, a beard, and long unkempt hair when he decided to check out big bikes in the area of Amphoe Khai Bang Rachan in Sing Buri, Thailand. He was very obviously poor and could even pass for a homeless person; at the same time, he was clearly interested in big bikes.

Unfortunately, most of the salespeople he encountered didn't appreciate his interest for big bikes and couldn't get pass the fact that he looked like he couldn't afford anything, so they ignored him.
But Leng Ducha didn't care. He kept walking and looking around the area to see more bikes. While still being ignored by salespeople, he spotted a bike that he actually liked - a Harley Davidson - so he called for the owner of the shop.

Fortunately, the shop owner was nice enough to speak to Leng and answer all his questions about the Harley, because after 10 minutes of conversation, Leng decided to buy the bike he was asking about. He reached into his pants, pulled out 600,000 baht (almost 900,000 php), and paid for the bike in cold, hard cash, undoubtedly surprising the owner as well as the salespeople in the store.
So let that be a lesson to anyone who's in sales. Never, ever judge a book by its cover; you never know if there's a check for 900,000 php being used as a bookmark in one of its pages.
