During a recent TV Patrol episode, Ted Failon mentioned the change in Jake Zyrus' voice compared to when he was still Charice Pempengco. Noli De Castro then found this as an opportunity to tell a joke: “Ang tawag diyan ay climate change. Madaming talagang nagbabago ngayon.”
While the broadcaster and former vice president found this funny, the National Youth Commisson did not. NYC Commissioner Perci Cendana was disappointed with De Castro's joke about Jake Zyrus' transition.

Cendena claims that by making fun of the people and the processes that are part of the LGBT community, the former vice president encouraged and supported the stigma and prejudice against the already bullied community. Cendana claims that Noli De Castro's actions made him a bad role model to the youth.
The NYC believe that sensitivity and seriousness should be given to gender identity and sexual orientation discussions. With a former politician who should look out for the best interests of all citizens to joke about something like this, makes young people more afraid to come out and express who they really are.
