Ricci Rivero says entering the PBA has always been his dream

Former UP Fighting Maroons star player Ricci Rivero has confirmed that he will join the PBA draft in September.

In an interview with the Power and Play program with Noli Eala, Rivero said that he always dreamed of playing in the PBA.

“It’s always been the dream,” Rivero said.

After leaving UP, Rivero had a brief stint with the Taoyuan Pilots in the Taiwan P. League+.

“Sobrang nakakatuwa lang din na we were given a chance to play overseas,” Rivero said on his Taiwan stint. “A lot of players grabbed it kasi malaking opportunity naman ‘yun. Nakakaproud din na kahit gusto natin na nandito naglalaro, pinapaganda natin ‘yung liga sa Pilipinas, pero if merong chance for us to play overseas, why not give it a try or maging masaya tayo sa isa’t isa na ‘yung Filipinos, iniimport na nila?”

It’s always been the dream naman growing up, kaya nag-start ako mag-basketball,” he added.

Rivero is a two-time UAAP champion, a one-time UAAP Mythical Team member, and a 2017 UAAP Most Improved Player. He also represented the country in 3×3 tournaments. He last played for Blackwater’s 3×3 team. (MJD)
