Quezon kicks out Biñan, advances to PSL finals

The Quezon Titans completed their upset over the Biñan Tatak Gel Beast Motorcycle Tires GameX with an 86-67 rout in Game 2 of the PSL President’s Cup semifinals on late Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan.

LJay Gonzales top-scored with 18 points, including two three-point conversions, to go with two rebounds, two assists, and a steal as the Titans swept the best-of-three semis series, 2-0.

“Credit sa coaches namin para sa panalong ito; pinagtulong tulungan talaga namin para makuha ang panalo na ito,” Gonzales said. “Sa finals, same intensity and same energy pa rin ang ipapakita namin.”

Judel Fuentes added 14 markers, while Will Gozum and Rodel Gravera contributed 10 markers apiece for the Titans, which will face the Nueva Ecija Capitals in the best-of-three finals.

The Titans picked up from where they left off in Game 1 as they cruised to an 18-8 first quarter score before establishing a 40-27 lead at the half with their fiery three-point shooting in the second quarter.

The Quezon Province-based squad continued their aggression in the second half as they widened the lead to 67-48 before it reached its biggest at 25 points at 76-51 on two free throws by Gozum.

Kenny Rogers Rocacurva top-scored for Biñan with 14 points, while Johnsherick Estrada added 10 markers in the loss.
