Caloy Yulo makes history with second Olympic gold, wins vault in Paris

Carlos “Caloy” Yulo became the first Filipino to win two Olympic gold medals by topping the men’s vault finals at the Paris Olympics on Sunday evening, Manila time.

Yulo, who had previously secured gold in the men’s floor exercise, scored 15.116 points for his two vaults to claim the top spot.

The vault is one of Yulo’s specialty events, reflecting his status as a former world vault champion.

He sailed past Great Britain’s Harry Hepworth, who got a 14.949.

Armenian Artur Davtyan gave Yulo the biggest competition by scoring 14.966.

Yulo now has the distinction of being the only double Olympic gold medalist from the Philippines.
