ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles middle blocker Thea Gagate is reportedly preparing for the next major step in her volleyball career as she weighs offers to play overseas.
A report from Abante stated that Gagate has received several attractive opportunities from foreign clubs, but no decision has been finalized as she awaits the completion of the necessary process while her current contract with ZUS Coffee nears its expiration.
The former De La Salle University standout is said to be excited about the possibility of joining the growing list of Filipino volleyball players competing in international leagues, including tournaments outside Southeast Asia.
Gagate’s absence from the Thunderbelles’ recent activities has also drawn attention from fans. She has not been seen in the team’s recent games and was likewise missing from photos posted during the club’s training sessions.
The 6-foot-2 middle blocker was the No. 1 overall selection in the inaugural PVL Rookie Draft and quickly established herself as one of the league’s top newcomers.
An overseas stint is expected to help Gagate further develop her game by facing taller opponents and adapting to different styles of volleyball, which could also benefit her future campaigns with Alas Pilipinas. (AC)
