An award-winning, California-based birth photographer was hired to document a home birthing process by a couple who were set to deliver a pair of precious twins—a boy and a girl. Robin Baker, who works at Birth Blessings Photography & Childbirth Services, didn’t foresee the wonderful surprise coming.
It was the couple’s second time to perform a home birth process, in a tub of water. This method is not yet common in hospitals, though some already have appropriate facilities for the process.
The first twin was delivered and had a 30-minute bonding time with the overjoyed Mom and Dad. When the second twin arrived, the baby was surprisingly en caul (encased in the amniotic sac). Amniotic sac, while the baby is inside the mother’s womb, provides the baby water and nutrients and act as cushion to protect the baby from any bumps. It naturally bursts, which causes the mother’s water to break.
