When we say the name, “Heart Evangelista”, we don’t just talk about an artist who has all the fame and the history in her belt. We're also not just talking about Chiz Escudero's lovely wife. She is by her own right rich, beautiful and respectable.
But what happens when she gets a glimpse of the life that plenty of Filipinos experience everyday? Because of her show, “Follow Your Heart”, she was able to experience a day in the life of the Ascuncion, and she got the full package.
From using coal to cook the family’s meal, to giving a child a bath outside of the house and in public, Heart got a taste of all of it and more.
Regarding her cooking skills, she said that her mom is the one at fault as she was never taught how to cook when she was younger.
Towards the end of the show, she became evidently sad upon realizing that the family, as some of their neighbors, only ate twice a day. That’s not all -- this family eats sardines on a good day. There are days where they don’t even have any.
She was surprised though that even though this was the situation, Heart’s foster family was still happy.
“You know yung nakakatuwa sa kanila is kahit nahihirapan sila or ano, nakangiti pa rin sila. Sobrang saya pa rin nila,” said the actress.
