Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa that the battle will end in a matter of 10-15 days basing from the timeframe requested by the President.
"He is very much aware of the situation. He is being briefed every now and then about the situation doon, kaya he came up with that assessment," Dela Rosa said in an interview.
Meanwhile, the Crisis Committee for the destructed city of Marawi due to the war, billions of funds are needed to rehabilitate the entire city. But the local government unit of Marawi City are seeking explanations why they are not a part of the Task Force Bangon Marawi which was designated for the rehabilitation of the city.
"Pagdating doon sa management of the budget, paano nila i-put into motion yung mga plano nila, wala na po tayong gustong maging parte doon. Ang gusto lang ho natin, ay as far as basic planning stage pati na rin yung decision-making process pagdating ng mga areas na kailangang irehabilitate," said Zia Alonto Adiong, spokesman of the Provincial Crisis Management Committee.
Other residents of Marawi are complaining about the 10-15 days extension of the siege. Some are saying that martial law is not the solution to resolve the crisis.
"Fifteen days is a burden in the part of the people, we want to appeal before them. Provide us the necessary needs of our IDPs (internally displaced persons) in terms of protecting their health security, in terms of installing adequate water supply, filtration supply, medicine and as well as make it more proper for our IDPs to live in evacuation centers," Adiong stated.
Thirty-three evacuees have died while 57 have been recovered.
The National Police is currently assessing whether to extend or end the martial law in the entire Mindanao, now that they still sees threats in public safety.
"Yun nga, sinabi nga ng mga Maute doon sa plano sa video diba? Na pag hindi nila makuha tong, aside from Marawi, pwede nilang tirahin tong Iligan, yung ibang cities ng Mindanao," Dela Rosa told reporters.
The President stated that he was aiming for the military to end the siege and their clearing operations in Marawi City within two weeks. However, Military Public Affairs chief Col. Edgard A. Arevalo said that Duterte knows the complexities of the military's operations.
"The Armed Forces of the Philippines will do its best, as it has been giving its level best, to crush the rebellion of the Maute-IS group," Military Public Affairs chief Col. Edgard A. Arevalo said on Wednesday. "The 15 days is a period within which the President hopes the crisis in Marawi to end," he added.
"The Commander in Chief is aware of the complexities of the ongoing operations because he is being briefed regularly," he said.
"Your government security forces’ resolute desire to accomplish the mission remains undiminished," Arevalo added.
