Toyota Fairview customer's horrific experience; more damages after taking SUV to service center

A Toyota SUV owner took his car to the service center of Toyota Fairview due road accident where motorcyle driver collided at the back of his car on the first week of June.

The service center promised him that they'll finish the work in three short days. However, the three days they promised turned to two weeks, so he decided to personally check on their progress. To his dismay, the mechanics are still not done working on his car. What surprised him more is that the other two doors were buffed. He was told that those doors also have scratches, that's why they took the initiative to fix them too.

"Nakita ko na hindi pa rin tapos, tapos mga naka ano pa din [nakaliha]. Basta dalawang pinto nakaliha din. 'Sir kasi may gasgas, inano na namin, dinamay na namin...' Pag sasakyan mo, alam mo kung may gasgas o hindi," Tong Santos said, owner of the Toyota SUV.

When he was going to pick up his car on June 27, he found out that there were new issues on the SUV.

"Mga rear camera ko, hindi na sya gumagana. Nung nakita ko naman ngayon, yung gas ko. Sabi ko, 'Yung gas ko full tank kong pinasok sa inyo, lumagpas kalahati. Hindi gumagana yung pad lamp ko, inayos nila. 'Eto ba yung kinarwash nyo?' Nandun yung mga buhangin, hindi man lang pinunasan," he complained.

Santos was told by the Toyota Fairview that he has a 3-month warranty to fix the issues. However, he wasn't convinced with their claims. He was able to confirm his suspicions after checking his dash cam.

His car was used multiple times for driving lessons.

"Nandun yung nagpapahinga sila, tapos nagkukwentuhan sila, minumura nila yung katrabaho nila tapos hanggang nakita namin ni misis, ginagawa driving, pinag-aaralan yung sasakyan namin. Kumbaga driving lesson ang ginagawa..." he said.

"Tapos nagpipintura nakabukas din yung ano, aircon tsaka radyo, tama ba yun? Habang nagpipintura sa ano, nakabukas yung aircon," he added.

His car's dash cam's wiring was cut while in the service center, other activities weren't recorded from June 8 to 27. After taking his complaints to the management of Toyota Fairview and Commonwealth, he showed all the proofs pertaining to his complaint. There it was confirmed that those who were using his car weren't authorized drivers.

Aside from the mentioned issues on his car, he discovered more problems in his SUV.

At first, the Toyota Fairview management promised that they will fix his car for free and then they were offered that their car will be replaced instead, but they'll still have to pay for that replacement.

"Sobrang perwisyo yung ginawa samin. Ang email samin, pinalo-loan kami. Ano to modus? Parang kukunin yung sasakyan namin, bibilhin nila, sa halagan 500k or 450k, tapos yung the rest kami pa rin yung maghuhulog. Saan yung danyos na ... ginawa ng tauhan nila?" Santos explained.

The Toyota Philippines said that they are already preparing for their statement regarding Santos' concern on their branch in Fairview.

"Toyota Motors Philippines (TMP) regrets the isolated incident which happened in one of its dealers, we have reviewed the footage of the video which was posted by the concerned customer on social media and we express great concern on its content."

"TMP does not tolerate such acts and will certainly take appropriate action to address the same. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this incident as we continue to assure TMP's commitment to provide the best product and services to all our valued customers."
