Dozens arrested as neo-Nazis and anti-fascists clash - SWEDEN

GOTHENBURG, Sweden - More than 30 individuals were captured on Saturday as both neo-Nazis and against fascists conflicted with police amid a walk by the outrageous conservative Nordic Resistance Movement (NMR) in the Swedish city of Gothenburg, police said.

The NMR assembled several individuals for the march, many armed with shields and helmets, while a large number of counter-protestors likewise hit the avenues of Gothenburg. Police had prepared for viciousness to soften out and had called in reinforcements from all police areas in Sweden and included 350 impermanent correctional facility beds in a police garage.

Membership in Nazi associations isn't illicit in Sweden and the NMR had an allow from the police to march. Swedish police said on their site that 35 individuals had been captured amid the day. No less than two individuals were harmed, including one cop who broke his arm.

Given the intent that many had here today, the scenario could have been much worse,” commanding officer Emilie Kullmyr told daily Dagens Nyheter.

The neo-Nazi march was ended in the early evening, before it achieved its assigned beginning stage, after a conflict with the police. Police set up a ring around the NMR demonstrators to keep them separated from anti-fascists. The neo-Nazis conflicted with police a few times and amid speeches they singled out government officials and the media as in charge of elevated amounts of migration in Sweden.
