The depths of the ocean hold wonders that we can only imagine. Much of it has yet to be explored, but from what we do know, deep-sea creatures are some of the strangest and most fascinating lifeforms on Earth. One such creature is the Enteroctopus, more commonly known as the Giant Octopus.

Living up to their name, these humongous octopi can grow as large as 11 feet (3.3 meters) and weigh as much as 157 pounds (71 kilograms). In order to learn more about these deep-sea creatures, a diver attempted to film one of them in its natural habitat.

The diver was going about his business of filming the giant octopus, when all of a sudden the colossal cephalopod attacked!

The diver narrated, “It’s very rare to see that type of octopus in the 80ft of water we were in. I was a little worried that that octopus wasn’t going to come off.”

He then narrated that his camera’s flash was what got the octopus to let go of him. “Finally when we started taking photos the octopus got off the camera. We didn’t bother it, I think it was just curious,” the diver said.
