Leaving home to pursue your dreams can be tough, especially when you have to go far from home. It can also be hard on your parents, especially if they are the kind of folks who worry and fuss about every little thing. Take this case of Liam McCarney, an 18-year-old who was very excited about going off to college, as an example.
What happened to Liam? According to the Daily Mail, mere hours after he left home, his mother started to worry.
She narrates that she received some text messages from him and knew that Liam was just adjusting to college life. However, the mother was so eager – some might say too eager – to hear from her son that she just had to release a mocking “instructional” video on Facebook.
In a mocking and sarcastic tone, the eager mother said:
“Do you remember me? I'm your mommy! I gave birth to you. Actually, I didn't quite give birth - I had to have a C-section to get you out. [I got] a big scar and it hurt like hell! But that's OK.”
Wow. Talk about oversharing? She then continued:

“Remember the first two years of your life, there was this woman and you were always on her hip, you, like, never wanted to get put down? I'm that woman! I'm the person that always had you on her hip! Look, here's the hip!”
Then she gestured to her left side.
She continued:
“When you're in your dorm at night, do you, like, lay there and think, ‘Wow, I wonder who fed me for the first 18 years of my life? Well, I don't want to brag, but that was me. I was like, breakfast, lunch, dinner.”
The mom even mentioned her husband. She said:
“Daddy helped you - do you remember daddy? He's six [feet] tall, really dark hair - a little bit gray. A little belly. He's really funny. Do you remember him? He was a part of that too.”
She also reminded him that she drove him to his karate lessons for six years and pushed him to achieve black belt status.
She also reminded him who wrote the checks for the “very pricey private school” that he attended before college.
Then she mockingly theorized that the reason why he wasn’t contacting her was because he didn’t know how to use the phone. She said:
“You know what, wait a minute. Maybe I need to give you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe you haven't forgotten me, you've forgotten how to use a phone.”
“But you know what? This is what I do. I'm a mommy, and mommies help their kids learn. Like I taught you how to go on the potty and ride a bike. So I'm gonna teach you how to use a phone.”

Oh, boy. She went on to detail a step-by-step fool’s guide on how to use a smartphone. She never failed to mention that she and her husband bought the gadget for Liam.
She continued:
“You're gonna put it up to your ear and you're gonna hear this ringing noise. It's gonna sound a little strange to you because I know you haven't heard it in a while. So now I know I'm gonna hear from you, especially before your mother and father have to pay the next installment for your tuition in November.”
The mom also talked about how Liam has time to text his girlfriend – although she didn’t clarify how she knew about that – but doesn’t have time to call his mother.
Apparently, it worked. A day after her video was posted; Liam finally gave her a call. Liam actually called his dad before, but that was only to ask his dad to send him his Game Boy game cartridges.
If you’re wondering whether Liam is an only child, he’s not. He’s actually the second of four who also left their town to go to college. So why the extreme attention from his overbearing mother? Apparently, the mother told the press that she becomes a “hot mess” whenever each of her children leave for college.
She even joked:
“As soon as I gave birth and got stretch marks, I figured I had a right to torture him as much as I want.”
However, in a contrasting statement, she added:
“He's really not doing anything that 50,000 other college kids aren't doing.”
So why worry? We don’t really know but here’s the embarrassing video for reference:
