We've seen this so many times, it's become normal to us, you may even have done it youself-- walking while on the phone. While all of us think that no serious injuries can come of this careless act, this incident may change that opinion.
This 67-year-old woman was just walking on a street in New Jersey. Distracted by something that she was doing on her phone, she didn't see the open cellar door that she was walking into.
The cellar of Acme Windows was open as workers were repairing the gas lines. They also had no clue of what was about to happen.
The woman fell 6-feet straight into the open door! This CCTV footage showed that because of her full concentration on her phone, she neglected to look out for the danger that was right in front of her.
The unidentified woman was taken to the hospital immediately and police on the scene reported that she suffered no life-treatening injuries. However, they are asking the public to look at this matter as a warning.
Anytime that we are on the street, we must stay alert and present. Walking while texting can result not just in this strange incident but also even walking right through green lights and injuring not just yourself but your fellow pedestrians and commuters.
