It's no secret that we all loved using Johnson's Baby Powder. Aside from the fact that it smells good, it also feels good when it's applied on our skin. But then, will you believe it if I tell you that there's a customer who complained after she allegedly suffered from cancer after using the said product.
Johnson's Baby Powder was sued by a woman because of the belief that the product had caused her an ovarian cancer.
The Los Angeles Superior Court Jury has released a verdict in favor of the complainant Eva Echeverria. They then ordered the Johnson's baby powder to pay $417 million in damages. Eva claims that after she used the product, she developed an ovarian cancer.

Eva's case was probably one of the biggest lawsuits that K&J had faced. A strong argument is that the company failed to warn their customers about the cancer risks of talc-based products.
"We are grateful for the jury's verdict on this matter and that Eva Echeverria was able to have her day in court," Eva's lawyer stated
The $417 Million was actually a combination of $70 million in compensatory damages and the other $347 million in Punitive damages.

Eva's case was said to have been the first out of hundreds of talc cases that had a trial in California.
"The 63-year-old claimed that she developed terminal ovarian cancer after decades of using J&J's products. Her lawyers argued J&J encouraged women to use its products despite knowing of studies linking ovarian cancer to genital talc use."
However, Johnson's hitting back and saying that studies didn't find any proof that talc products can cause cancer. And despite that J&J has already lost the trial, they still chose to file an appeal because they believe that their products are safe.
