Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), the marketer of the Caltex brand in the Philippines, has allotted almost P1,000,000 for donations to various institutions to aid in the battle against COVID-19.
Together with Chevron Holdings Inc., CPI donated P500,000 to the Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation Inc. to cover expenses for medical supplies and personal protective equipment for healthcare workers. In addition, it also partnered with JAC Liner to provide P250,000 worth of fuel to four shuttle buses that are currently ferrying our frontliners across the metro. This is expected to cover the PITX-Alabang and Ortigas-Shaw Boulevard routes until the first week of April.
The Caltex Makati Credit Cooperative run by Caltex employees also donated P25,000 to the Kaya Natin! Foundation—a non-profit and non-government organization—to support the said foundation’s volunteers who are transporting healthcare workers to and from various pick-up and drop-off locations in the capital.
To cap it off, Caltex also partnered with Grab Philippines to provide P300 daily gas vouchers for each Grab volunteer helping out in the GrabBayanihan initiative. The GrabBayanihan Cars provide free transport for healthcare professionals around the clock.
“Caltex is one with the Philippine nation and our frontliners and health workers in battling this global pandemic,” said CPI country chairman Louie Zhang. “We are actively responding to the COVID-19 outbreak and while we continue to closely monitor our operating environment, we are also supporting PGH, JAC Liner, Kaya Natin! Foundation, and Grab Philippines in their mission to help curtail this virus. We hope this crisis will soon be over and that everyone stays safe.”

These are the type of efforts we need at the moment. Kudos to CPI for this initiative, and, of course, to our frontline workers who are putting their lives on the line in this fight against the pandemic.
