THIRDY Ravena adds another hardware to his collection as he's one of the two honorees from the past PBA D-League season.
Ravena, who steered Cignal-Ateneo to the Aspirants' Cup title, will be alongside Hesed Gabo, who came through for BRT Sumisip-St. Clare in the Foundation Cup, as this year's Finals MVP awardees in the PBA Press Corps Awards Night.
Ravena was on a tear when the lights are at their brightest as he posted 13.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.5 steals in the Blue Eagles' four-game trouncing of Centro Escolar University in the first conference.
The 6-foot-3 high-flyer continued that run for Ateneo as it swept through the UAAP Season 82 and graduated with three championships together with three Finals MVPs to boot.
He also sustained that streak as he helped Mighty Sports win the 2020 Dubai International Basketball Championship, which led to him being feted with the Mr. Basketball honors in the SMC-Philippine Sportswriters Association Awards Night.
Gabo, meanwhile, did the yeoman job for the Saints in the second conference, but did the biggest damage when his team needed it.
The Mapua guard averaged only 7.0 points, 2.7 boards, and 4.3 assists for the Saints in the three-game series against Marinerong Pilipino.
Yet Gabo made the crucial plays in the clincher, tallying 12 points, five rebounds, and seven assists in a tight 63-60 Game Three victory to win his first title in the developmental ranks.
He went undrafted this past 2019 PBA Rookie Draft, but remains a solid asset for Basilan Steel in the MPBL.
The PBA Press Corps Awards Night has been indefinitely postponed in the light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, with the organization set to announce the new date once the situation normalizes.
