Does the name Philipp Plein ring a bell? We’re not surprised if your answer is no. The dude is a fashion designer and has very little to do with the world of cars—until Ferrari threatened him with a lawsuit in 2019 for his “distasteful” use of the Italian carmaker’s vehicles on Instagram.
By distasteful, Ferrari wasn’t referring to Plein’s questionable choice of wraps or clothing when posing next to its cars (which, to be fair, Plein paid for). Rather, the brand took issue with Plein’s use of the vehicles as props to promote his products, sometimes incorporating the use of scantily clad women in the process.

Now, Plein and Mansory have collaborated to produce the ‘Star Trooper Pickup’ Mercedes-Benz G-Class. No scantily clad models here, but chances are fans of the iconic German off-roader will file this under ‘distasteful’ as well.

What is this, you ask? This eyesore is an 838hp, 1,000Nm G-Class with a chunk of its roof chopped off, covered in dark camouflage, and topped off with a Mansory badge up front and a Philipp Plein spare tire cover. It also runs on rather frail-looking black alloys and flaunts some sinister red LED lighting.

The interior is even more head-scratching. Exterior camo is carried over to the cabin, which features red accents, a hexagonal pattern on the seats, and even more Plein branding. The headliner features hundreds of tiny red LED lights for a starry night effect.
Mansory says “only very few people will be able to enjoy this unique vehicle,” on account of only seven units being made. Uh, too bad? To be honest, we don’t mind.
