Dad of covid+ Doc employed in govt hospital complains lack of financial support, turns to socmed for help

A certain Ali Samporna Pacalundo has taken to Facebook to air his complaint against lack of government support for its own doctors who contracted covid-19 in the performance of their jobs.

Upon reading the FB post, it turned out, Pacalundo was speaking from the personal experience of his son, a government doc working for a district hospital in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu province.

Pacaundo’s major complaint is the lack of government support for its frontliners, like his son who contracted covid-19 in the line of duty, especially financial support. However, under Republic Act 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, health workers who become severely ill in the line of duty will receive financial assistance of P100,000 while the family of those who died of COVID-19 in the line of duty will get P1 million. Pacalundo said he thought and always read in fb and media that the government spending on Covid-19 was in billions of pesos but his son, a frontline doctor did not get any financial assistance and he is now admitted in a private hospital. We need help financially.

Ali Samporna Pacalundo’s FB post was picked by a netizen named Ma Hazelia Taj and shared it on her FB wall as a kind gesture of appreciation for the heroic service rendered by Dr. Ommar T. Pacalundo to the public.

Good morning Lapu-Lapu City and Philippines in general. I just want to share our problems regarding the Covid-19. On June 15, 2020, my son Dr. Ommar T. Pacalundo was on duty at Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital at OPD section. After his duty at around 6 pm that day, he felt na may lagnat na siya. So he went directly home and take paracetamol tablet thinking that it is only an ordinary fever. After three days the fever did not subside so on June 17, 2020, he went to ARC hospital at Lapu-Lapu City for swab test at his own pocket money expenses. While waiting for the lab results he continues taking fever medicines but of no avail. He was already worried and made calls for hospitals with infectious disease treatment but all responded that they were all full to the max. capacity. On June 23, 2020, then he decided to be admitted na lang sa Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital for at least access to oxygen for he already felt breathing problems. On June 24, 2020, we got the results of the lab test and unfortunately, he was positive for the COVID-19. What can we do because there is no available covid-19 hospital designated by the government coz they were all full to the maximum. My son wife is a Physician also, and who personally attending his husband notwithstanding the danger in her life to be infected. Upon knowing the positive swab test then they seek the help of their doctors’ friends that my son be a given an attention and be admitted at Perpetual Succor Hospital on June 24, 2020. What we did with my wife was that we went to the office the acting Mayor of Lapu-Lapu to seek whatever assistance they can give but all they can say is that all covid-19 hospitals were full. As of now, we need any help that we can get either in any way even by prayer because my son was infected by the virus in doing his duty on the public hospital. As of now, my son was admitted to the PSH in Cebu City without any assistance from the government financially. I thought and always read in fb and media that the government spending on Covid-19 was in billions of pesos, My son is a frontline doctor but did not get any financial assistance and he is now admitted in a private hospital, we need help financially.

You can help by sharing only, thanks and god blessed.
