"WAG NA KAYONG MAKIGULO!" Says Defense Sec. Lorenzana to CPP-NPA

On Saturday, Department of National Defense secretary Delfin Lorenzana denied that the declaration of martial law in Mindanao is the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA).

Lorenzana made it clear that the martial law wasn't implemented for the Armed Forces of the Philippines to specifically target the NPA but will be 'dealt' if they ever "engage in criminal and illegal acts such as kidnapping, extortion, murder, and the destruction of property."

"We would like to make it clear that in the implementation of Martial Law in Mindanao, the Armed Forces of the Philippines will not specifically target the New People's Army as alleged by NDFP Chief Consultant Jose Maria Sison," Lorenzana said.

He also stated that the military forces will not commit human rights abuses and will only abide by the parameters of President Duterte's martial law.

"Huwag na kayong makigulo pa sa nangyayari ngayon sa Mindanao. Do not force the government's hand. Immediately stop all illegal activities and abide by the true spirit of the peace process. This is the only way we can move forward," Lorenzana said, calling out to the CPP-NPA.

Secretary Lorenzana further explained that they will comply fully to the President's directives that martial law was declared to address radical Islamic terrorism and narco-terrorism in Mindanao.

The CPP called on to the New People's Army to plan and carry out more tactical offensives across Mindanao and the entire archipelago to show that they are resisting martial declared by the current president.

"The Party calls on the NPA to plan and carry out more tactical offensives across Mindanao and the entire archiepelago," CPP stated to the press. In the face of the Duterte regime’s martial law declaration in Mindanao, the necessity of waging revolutionary armed struggle becomes ever clearer," they said.

CPP also urged the Filipinos to demonstrate a demand for martial law  to be lifted as soon as possible.

"The CPP calls on the Filipino people to vigorously oppose Duterte’s martial law declaration in Mindanao and demand its immediate lifting," it said.

"They must carry out and intensify protest mass actions nationwide, banner the demand to end martial law, assert civilian rule and respect for civil and political rights as well highlight the basic demands of the workers and peasants and other democratic sectors," the CPP added.

They claimed that President Duterte based his decision in a "narror pretext" of gunfights hoping it'll be justified by martial law.

They also said that Duterte may even declare martial nationwide to resolve criminality outrage.

"If Duterte succeeds in securing congressional support for martial law in Mindanao, he will surely be emboldened to impose martial law on the entire country. He can easily come up with more pretexts such as 'fighting criminality' and so on,"  they said.
