In this day and age, teenagers getting pregnant is not uncommon. As unfortunate as it sounds, many youngsters inadvertently become young parents. The worst case scenario is when one of the teens, usually the guy, abandons the other, leaving one teenager to take care of the baby alone.

This is exactly what happened to Abbygail Marquez, who got pregnant when she was still in highschool and the father of her child abandoned her and her baby.

Abbygail accepted the fact that this was the fate of her child – to grow up without a father. However, providence came in the form of Jay a childhood sweetheart. Jay was Abbygail’s boyfriend when they were still in Grade 4. Abbygail thought that when Jay reached out to her, he was only trying to be friends again. It turns out he had a different purpose.

Abbygail posted a status message meant for her ex on Facebook, saying "someday someone's gonna take your place." After Abbygail posted her “patama” message, Jay posted "I wish I could be that someone."

"Nagulat ako, akala ko coincidence lang" Abyygail said after reading Jay’s status message.

Even though Jay was trying hard to prove his love and commitment to Abbygail, she still had doubts about his sincerity. There were times when Jay would change the diaper of Abbygail’s baby and help her out with other parenting duties. One of the biggest sacrifices that Jay made was when he sold his skateboard so that he could go to Nueva Ecija to visit Abbygail.

Abbygail was still skeptical but she changed her mind after she saw a video taken by Jay’s friends which showed a drunk Jay proclaiming how committed he was to Abbygail. After finally making their relationship official, Jay’s family accepted Abbygail and her baby wholeheartedly.

Now, Abbygail and Jay have their own little baby boy and Abbygail’s eldest is already two years old.

"Best feeling yung ganito buo kaming pamilya, yung akala ko hindi kami magkakaroon nung una. Pero dumating sya, hindi ko sya hinanap kusa lang syang binigay samin. Talaga namang best things comes to those who wait," Abbygail said on a Facebook post about her love story with Jay.
