Famous 'Hot' Writer saves Grace Poe A** against Inquirer Wrong Title Headline

After the controversial statement of President Duterte from Grace Poe advise, a netizen would like to narrate the fault of misunderstanding in media.

If we could recall what President Duterte said, he calls out Sen. Grace Poe. “At sabihin pa ni Grace na ‘watch your mouth.’ You take care of your … You take care of your mouth, and I will take care of mine because my mouth is not for your mouth.” And then, dismissively, in Filipino: Just keep quiet, you don’t understand.

And what, exactly, did Poe say? “As a public figure being heard by children, you might be emulated.”

Grace Poe and President Duterte are good friends.

Here is the post from writer and political commentator Franco Mabanta Facebook:

I began considering whether or not to publish this video after the fuss that went down yesterday. I've since concluded the consideration.

So here's the question: As someone who's always been a vocal and loving supporter of Duterte, why am I posting a clip that makes Poe look good?

It's quite simple.

Because it's honest and because it's the right thing to do.

What people don't know is that Poe was a victim to false reports by the the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Yes, once again, the PDI messed up. In what's been described to me as an ambush interview, Poe -- having been asked her opinion on Du30 cussing out PNoy -- quite gently replied, "I hope he keeps it SPG".

The Inquirer then released the headline POE REMINDS DUTERTE: WATCH YOUR MOUTH. This is idiotic and clearly misleading.

Duts, presumably hurt by the headline because he and Poe are friends, fired back and told her to worry about her mouth instead of his.

Poe's camp then reached out to the Inquirer to ask why they published something so inaccurate. Realizing the mistake, the PDI edited the headline to POE ON DUTERTE'S CURSING: KIDS ARE LISTENING. (Will post screenshots of both headlines in the comments section.) Do you see how twisted this reporting is? Feels almost indisputably malicious, no?

Now, we -- the millions upon millions of pro-Duterte personalities from all over the country -- are ridiculously, hilariously familiar with this modus operandi. Time and again, our President has been perversely misrepresented by the PDI. He's been misframed, inaccurately depicted, and STRAIGHT UP LIED ABOUT by this publication on too many occasions, clearly with intent to damage.

WE KNOW THEY DO THIS. And it's not right.

That said, having been through this garbage ourselves, is it not the correct+ethical+moral thing to do to show empathy to Poe?

Sidenote 1: My sources tell me that this is strike two for this specific reporter (I won't mention her name) and that it's quite likely she'll be removed from covering any of the Senate hearings from here on in.

Sidenote 2: Credit where credit is due, the PDI ultimately took down the post (yes, even after the edited headline) after seeing the unfair harm it caused GP.

I was there front and center at the Grab/Uber hearing -- and I want you to know that the way Grace handled all the massive egos in the room (many of them reeking of desperation because of all the money at stake) was a phenomenal thing to see. It was truly impressive. She was compassionate and fair and logical, yet the entire time maintained the power and presence of an Alpha, a REAL BOSS.

In the face of any animosity thrown her way or at anyone in the Session Hall, NOT ONCE did she blink. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Ultimately, this is where I stand:

Duterte is a great President; the best we've ever had.

And Poe is a great Senator.

PS - They're not fighting. She's told me more than once how much she likes Digong. Also, in the grand scheme of things, I don't think this is a big deal. We all know that something else happened today that's far more important and which demands real attention. You can focus on whatever you want, but I'm focusing on that.

And hey, if you'd rather not focus on either, perhaps you could enjoy the work of a talented and well-meaning public servant. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Meanwhile, the damage has been done. Philippine Daily Inquirer posted in their website "An apology to Senator Poe" because of the said article that leads to controversies against the Senator and the President.

Here is the said post from PDI:

On August 3, 2017, an INQUIRER.net story erroneously stated in the headline “Poe reminds Duterte: Watch your mouth.”

Senator Grace Poe, who was reacting earlier that day to President Duterte’s comments on former President Benigno Aquino III’s criticism of the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs during an ambush interview, actually said:

“Style na niya ‘yan pero syempre pag ikaw ay pinapakinggan ng mga bata, gagayahin. Sang-ayon ba tayo doon… Basta alam na niya anong tama o mali so paalala lang, SPG.”

The headline did not reflect the content of the interview and we later revised the head to “Poe on Duterte’s cursing: Kids are listening.”

PDI apologize for the mistake.
