PTV4 to air Gilas Pilipinas matches on delayed basis

The state-owned channel, Peoples Television 4 Network (PTV4), plans to broadcast the Gilas Pilipinas games during the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup with a minor time delay.

According to an announcement on their social media platforms, PTV4 has confirmed that they will broadcast the national team’s matches from 10 p.m. to midnight on August 25, 27, 29, 31, and September 2.

Gilas is set to face the Dominican Republic today (August 25), Angola on the 27th, and Italy on the 29th, while the 31st and the 2nd could be dates for the classification round matches.

Sienna Olaso, Cignal TV’s First Vice President and Head of Channels and Content, as well as the Head of Sports, previously mentioned that they reached out to PTV4 with the intention of broadcasting the Gilas matches, aiming to provide audiences with a more accessible viewing experience.

“We extended our offer to PTV 4 to actually carry it either live or delayed. We just want to make sure that every Filipino will have a chance to watch it,” Olaso said during the PSA Forum last Tuesday.

“Minimum of five games all the way to eight games. So, sana, we can enter the next phase so we can have more games,” she added.

Aside from PTV4, Gilas Pilipinas matches as well as other games in the World Cup are to be shown via free-to-air channels TV5 and One Sports, cable channels One Sports+ and PBA Rush, and satellite pay-per-view as well as streaming options such as Pilipinas Live, Cignal Play, and Smart Livestream.
