Sotto disheartened by Gilas players’ demands for high pay, calls for their ban

Former senator Tito Sotto expressed dismay over the revelation by Gilas officials that there were two players who asked for a huge amount of money before accepting the offer to play for the national team.

PBA chairman Ricky Vargas said in a press conference on Monday that two players “asked for the moon” when they invited them to play for Gilas in the Asian Games.

Gilas officials did not include the two unnamed players in the Asiad roster.

On X (formerly Twitter), Sotto voiced his disappointment in the actions of the two players.

“Ban those two. They do not love our country!” the former senator posted on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Gilas team manager Alfrancis Chua shared that those who played for the national team in the Asiad did not ask for anything in return. (MJD)
