PBA legend “Samboy” Lim passed away on Saturday, just two days before Christmas Day.
His passing was announced on his official Facebook page, nine years after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Lim died while under care at the Medical City, where he was given his last rites. Among those present by his bedside are his family and close friend, Allan Caidic.
He was 61.
“Our Hearts are broken 
Today, December 23, 2023, our dearly beloved Samboy passed away peacefully,” said the announcement.
Lim, whose full name was Avelino Borromeo Lim Jr., was known as “The Skywalker” due to his high leaping abilities, which enabled him to dish out acrobatic shots, hang-time moves, and slam dunks.
“Please pray for Samboy. He needs our prayers as we commend his soul to the loving arms of our Lord God. Please have mercy on Samboy and grant him everlasting peace. Amen.”
Nine years ago, Lim collapsed after seeing action in an exhibition game at the Ynares Center in Pasig City. He was rushed to the hospital, where he fell into a comatose state after a cardiac arrest.
Lim was later brought home after two months, although he was not yet able to see or speak.
