There’s an on-going debate in the food industry today, where some people are divided over “organic” foods and conventional foods.
Basically, organic foods are vegetables, meat and other food produce that’s been processed with fewer artificial methods, chemicals or genetically modified ingredients. Organic meats come from animals who were allowed to live a free life outside a factory – able to run around, eat fresh food and drink fresh water.
Many who support organic foods claim that they taste better and are healthier. Indeed, often the results show.
Take this farmer for instance, whose unusual methods of raising his pigs has become a viral sensation.
Pig farmer Huang Demin from Ningxiang County, Hunan province has been making his pigs swim every day since 2012.

He makes his pigs jump off a 10-foot diving board, he constructed, as part of a fitness routine. Huang herds his pigs up the platform and makes them dive into the pond. Then the pigs have a nice little swim before they’re rounded up back into their sties.
The farmer believes that by making, the pigs swim they become healthier through proper exercise. This practice improves the quality and taste of the pork.
Huang said the practice of making his pigs dive and swim is a benefit for him and the animals. Since the pigs get plenty of physical exercise, their fat doesn’t build too much in one area of their bodies. This means his pigs have a good mix of lean meat and fats.
This, in turn, increases their value three times higher than the regular hog – due to the better taste they have.
Huang’s unusual practice has been featured in an article in a country magazine which says: “A pig that eats lots of fresh greens and gets plenty of exercises will have more muscle and less fat than a pig standing in a pig sty eating high carbohydrate grains all day.”
