We are not born brave but sworn to serve the Filipino people, we fear that our lives will be our greatest sacrifice. — Police officer in FB post

The number of covid-19 cases in the Philippines continue to rise at an alarming rate but some Filipinos continue to defy the enhanced community quarantine being implemented by the government.

Perhaps, this viral FB post from a police officer may touch the hearts of these stubborn Filipinos, have a change of heart and start cooperating with the measures put in place to stop the virus from spreading far and wide.

The FB post has generated 119, 795 shares, 2017, 712 reactions and 50,156 comments as of this writing.

The police officer, like any mortals, fears for his safety and his family because of their exposure to different people while performing their duties.

He joked about swapping jobs temporarily with willing individuals. He remarked that while majority of Filipinos are lucky because the government told them to stay at their homes for their safety, the PNP and AFP personnel are being called to render special duty even their safety are going to get compromised.

The police officer asked the call center agent, the office secretary, the freelance model, the company safety officer in a private company if they are willing risk their lives, compromise the safety of their families?

He said it’s true they have guns and ammos but they are no match to the unseen enemies they are looking for hence they don’t need civilians in the frontlines. At this juncture, he appealed everyone’s cooperation, trust and prayers for the Filipinos to win this battle. And for the frontliners to return safely to their homes and still in good health.

The police officer ended the FB post saying they are not born brave but they have taken an oath and sworn to serve the Filipino people even though they fear that their lives will be their greatest sacrifice.
