New York City authorities reportedly arrested Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
According to a report from ABC News, Porter was charged with assault and strangulation.
Sources said that Porter’s girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, got mad with the Rockets guard after he spent a whole night in a bar. Gondrezick locked the doors of the hotel room where they were staying, and Porter could not enter when he came back on Tuesday morning.
With the help of hotel security, Porter managed to open the door to their room. When he entered, he immediately beat Gondrezick. Gondrezick, who is a former WNBA player, sustained a cut on the right side of her face.
Porter is one of the most promising young guards in the NBA. He averaged 19.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game last season. (MJD)
