Mar-Jana Phillips and the Pepper Savings Bank continued their struggle in the Dodram 2023-2024 V League Women’s Division after a 21-25, 25-20, 25-19, and 27-25 loss to the IBK Industrial Bank on Wednesday night at the Hwaseong General Indoor Stadium.
The Filipina-American volleyball player struggled with just seven points on a 33.3 attack success rate as Pepper Savings Bank suffered its fourth defeat in five matches this season.
Pepper Savings Bank head coach Joe Tringe said it was annoying that they could not sustain their fiery first set after surrendering the next three sets to a much more determined IBK.
“I don’t feel good. I’m annoyed,” Tringe said. “We kept saying, Let’s play our own game, but it didn’t work out. The players have to overcome their struggles. We have to overcome it.”
Britney Abercrombie led the way for the IBK Industrial Bank (2-3) with 31 points, while Seungju Pyo and Hwang Min-kyung each contributed 10 markers apiece.
Yasmin Bedartgani top-scored for the slumping Pepper Savings Bank with 30 points, while Park Jeong-ah and Park Eun-seo each ended up with 12 points.
