Aljun Melecio voiced his disappointment after failing to convert three crucial free throws in the Converge FiberXers’ game against the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters on Saturday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Melecio got fouled in the three-point area, with Converge staring at a 95-92 Phoenix lead at the 1:21 mark of the fourth quarter. A decent shooter at the charity stripe, Melecio missed all three shots.
The Fuel Masters won the game 99-98, behind Ken Tuffin’s game-winning lay-up. However, Melecio believed that the results would be different if he hit his free throws.
“Kahit ako hindi ko akalain na hindi ko masu-shoot. Mabigat para sa akin,” Melecio told reporters. “Mahirap, parang panaginip.”
Aside from missing three big free throws, Melecio also muffed a potential game-winning jumper in the final possession of the game.
The former Green Archer finished the game scoreless, missing all 13 attempts from the field. With the loss, Converge sank further to the bottom of the standings with a 0-5 record.
“Ganda ng free throws ko last few games, kaya ini-expect mo na makapasok man lang kahit isa,” he added. “Ganun talaga, e.”
