Quezon finishes off Nueva Ecija, clinches PSL crown

The Quezon Titans completed their conquest of the Nueva Ecija Capitals with a 77-64 Game 4 win to capture the PSL President’s Cup crown on Tuesday night at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena, Quezon.

Jason Opiso stepped up in the title-clinching victory with 12 points, including two three-point conversions, to go with six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and a block to earn Player of the Game honors.

“Ang sabi sa amin ni coach Eric (Gonzales before the start of the playoffs) na lahat ng sakripisyo namin ay magbubunga basta tratrabahuhin namin. Nagtulong tulong lang kaming buong team hanggang dulo,” Opiso said.

Judel Fuentes spearheaded the offense anew for the Titans with 15 points, including four outside conversions, while Robin Roño and Ximone Sandagon ended with nine points each.

It was a game of runs for both squads in the first three quarters before the Titans went on a massive third-quarter rampage by turning a 37-47 deficit to a 60-54 with three-pointers from Fuentes and inside hits from Opiso and Sandagon.

Quezon continued their onslaught in the fourth quarter as three-point connections by Opiso, Christopher Lagrama, and Roño gave them the largest lead at 72-57 with four minutes remaining.

Eman Calo top-scored for the Capitals with 14 points, Billy Ray Robles added 12 markers, and Michael Juico finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
