“Ako si #PH194” — St. Luke’s doctor confesses she was scared for her life for first time, says she was not ready to die because her kids still need her

St. Luke’s Medical Center Ob-Gyn Dr. Grace Caras-Torres revealed in a Facebook post that she is positive of covid-19.

The OB-Gyn doc said she wants the public to know straight from the horse’s mouth rather from gossip.

Dr. Torres remarked that the battle against covid-19 has just started and she was the first to become the casualty. She described the symptoms she felt in the beginning and did not suspect it was covid-19.

Dr. Torres said it only sunk in to her that it was covid-19 after her colleague whom she worked with in an operation exhibited the same symptoms.

The first thing that came to her mind was her family, her kid and parents who are seniors. She cried fearing for the worst she exposed them to the virus unknowingly.

What she did was locked herself inside her bedroom, celebrated her birthday in a quarantine with a deadly disease and grateful that she reached the age of 42.

“Nagkulong na ako sa kwarto. Nag-birthday akong nakaquarantine at may sakit na nakamamatay. Buti pala umabot pa ako ng 42.”

Dr. Torres said she had no other choice but to entertain herself reading socmed. Soome her of colleagues positive of covid are intubated. 4 of them already succumbed to the disease.

Dr. Torres thought she was already okay until she had diarrhea. That scared her to death and cried because according to stories she read from Wuhan, once the patient starts exhibiting GI (gastro-intestinal) symptoms, it is going to be downhill from there.

Dr. Torres said the virus is not the only worst enemy of its victim, but her sanity. That is why these patients need our moral support.

Dr. Torres ended the FB post wishing to see the end of this crisis very quickly and no more Filipinos die of the virus.

Too many to mention.

Dr. Torres’ FB post has gone viral, generating 18, 527 shares, 54,963 reactions and 17, 266 comments and growing.
