De Brito aims to keep Alas Pilipinas lineup intact

Alas Pilipinas national women’s volleyball team head coach Jorge Edson Souza de Brito hopes to keep his lineup intact ahead of their two international tournaments later this year.

According to the Brazilian mentor, there are still questions about whether the entire 14-player roster will be available for the 2024 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Challenger Cup in July and the SEA V.League in July and August.

“Hopefully, hopefully. We don’t know, but hopefully most of them (will still be available),” De Brito said in an interview after receiving their AVC Challenge Cup for Women bronze medal on Wednesday night.

From Alas’ lineup, Angel Canino and Julia Coronel might return to the De La Salle University Lady Spikers, and Arah Panique could be recalled by the National University Lady Bulldogs.

However, De Brito said the entire 14-player squad will be available for the “SERVE SPIKE UNITE The Philippines-Korea Women’s Volleyball Exhibition Game” scheduled for June 7 in South Korea.

“Well, yes, we have a friendly match here in Korea (next month),” De Brito said. “They will all be there.”
