MANILA, Philippines — American boxing trainer and analyst Teddy Atlas Jr. did not hide his frustration over the unanimous decision handed down in favor of Jeff Horn at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.
Atlas, who was doing commentary for ESPN at ringside, showed his disdain for the result and told Horn that he lost right after the bout.
Horn scored a controversial 117-111, 115-113, 115-113, upset over eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao Sunday morning and snatched the WBO welterweight title.
MALAKING TANONG NGAYON NG MGA NAKAPANUOD AT IBANG BOXING ANALYSTS, BOXING FANS AT MAGING MGA DATING KALABAN NG PAMBANSANG KAMAO? PAANO NGA BA NAHUSGAHAN NG MGA JUDGES ANG SCORING NILA SA DALAWANG BOKSINGERONG MAGKALABAN!?
TILA ISANG KUWESTYONA PA DIN DAHIL DI PA DIN MAKAPANIWALA ANG NAKARARAMI SA PAGKAPANALO NI JEFF HORN KAY MANNY PACQUIAO.
Aniya ni Teddy Atlas, "Congratulations. Great effort. I thought you lost"
The decision shocked Atlas and almost all of the boxing world.
According to statistics, Pacquiao should have won. CompuBox, a statistics provider for all major boxing events, showed Pacquiao outlanded Horn, 182-92.
Hence, Atlas' violent reaction.
Atlas, who scored the bout 117-111, furthered his rant in SportsCenter after game.
"It's a corrupt sport. I've been in the sport 45 years. I'm sorry," he said. "What else could it be? Corruption."
