June 30, Saturday, marked the first year of both President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo in office. While the President faced mixed reactions from citizens regarding his first year term, Vice President Robredo takes pride in her achievement as vice president of the Philippines.
These six key advocacy areas include hunger and nutrition, public education, universal healthcare, rural development, women empowerment, and housing and human resettlements.
VP Robredo brags mainly of her spearheading of her flagship program, the "Angat Buhay: Partnerships Against Poverty", which aims to provide help to local communities, their impoverished residents, and the marginalized sector in general.
VP Leni Robredo takes pride that her Angat Buhay program has reached 36, 046 individuals, equating to 22, 775 families and providing almost P52.72 million worth of financial assistance for resources for rural development, feeding programs, medical and dental missions, and educational infrastructure.
VP Robredo was able to relay such assistance with the help of donors. Her anti-poverty programs also aim to help local government connect and partner with private sectors, civil society organizations, and non-government organizations to address certain needs of impoverished families such as education, food security, rural development, women empowerment, universal healthcare, and housing.
VP Robredo added that they are already doing progress on achieving partnerships among communities and sectors. She revealed that they have secured partnerships with 134 Local Government Units (LGU) and public and private organizations, to provide assistance on livelihood, employment, market linkages, and health and education infrastructure.

The included programs that VP Robredo was now able to implement under her anti-poverty programs were the installation of solar panels in 25 households for the Tadyawan tribe in Oriental Mindoro, feeding programs for daycare children in Bukidnon, Bohol, and Iloilo, and medical missions in the areas of Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur.
Aside from her Angat Buhay program, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) also helped in relief missions for the victims of Typhoon Lawin and Nina, as well as those affected by the earthquakes in Surigao and Batangas. The OVP also sent help for the civilians affected by the Marawi crisis.
During the course of these relief operations, the OVP recorded a total of 26, 307 relief packs distributed to those affected of the mentioned disasters and crisis. VP Robredo has also visited disaster-stricken areas to talk to local authorities and leaders and discuss other possible assistance they need.
The OVP also recorded to have provided almost P116 million worth of medical assistance for 10, 892 recipients and almost P200, 000 worth of funeral and burial assistance for 71 beneficiaries.
Furthermore, the OVP also reported to have dealt with 4, 289 OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker)-related concernes such as requests for repatriation, salary assistance and benefits claims, legal and monetary assistance for detained OFWs, and legal action against employers, recruiters, and agents.
