Ethan Alvano records another double-double as Wonju sweeps weekend games

Ethan Alvano delivered another double-double performance as the Wonju DB Promy defeated the Goyang Sono Sky Gunners, 99-91, in the Korean Basketball League on Sunday night at the Goyang Sono Arena.

The former San Miguel Alab Pilipinas guard finished with a double-double of 13 points and 11 assists to go with five rebounds as the Promy stayed on top with a 12-1 win-loss slate.

It was the third consecutive double-double for Alvano after his 10 points and 12 assists against Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus last Thursday and his 21 points and 12 assists against Seoul Samsung Thunders last Saturday.

Didrick Lawson tallied a double-double of 29 points and 14 rebounds; Sangjae Kang added 17 markers; and Kim Jong-gyu and Inwoong Park ended with 16 and 11, respectively, for Wonju.

According to Promy head coach Kim Joo-seong, he was glad that his players were able to make in-game adjustments against the physicality of the Sky Gunners throughout the entire contest.

“The players were somewhat affected by the opponent’s roughness, but they overcame it well. They were able to finish well because they did not give up their pursuit until the end,” Kim said.

Jeonghyeon Lee top-scored with 30 points, including six three-point conversions; Chinanu Onuaku had a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds; and Kim Kang-seon and Minwook Kim ended with 20 and 13 points, respectively, for Goyang.

Filipino guard Joshua Torralba was held scoreless in almost one minute of action for Goyang, which dropped to a 4-7 win-loss slate.
