Sean Ildefonso, Suwon KT survive Ulsan Hyundai

Sean Ildefonso and the Suwon KT Sonic Boom pulled off a 75-74 escape over the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in the Korean Basketball League late Saturday night at the Suwon KT Arena.

The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles standout contributed five points, including one three-pointer, to go with two rebounds as the Sonic Boom improved to a 5-3 win-loss slate.

But it was Lee Doo-won who drilled the marginal point as he split his free throws with less than a minute remaining in the contest. He also contributed five markers to the victory.

Paris Bass finished with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Ha Yoon-gi and Heewon Han contributed 18 and 12 markers, respectively, in Suwon KT’s fourth consecutive victory.

“There were parts where we were able to have a good flow in the first half. We could have increased the score, but we couldn’t, and it became a difficult game. The players worked hard and achieved good results,” said Suwon KT head coach Song Young-jin.

Gaige Prim top-scored with 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Keve Aluma added 12 markers as the Phoebus dropped to a 5-4 record.

Meanwhile, Joshua Torralba and the Goyang Sono Sky Gunners (3-5) prevailed over Samjosef Belangel and the Daegu Korean Gas Corporation Pegasus (1-7), 100-90, at the Daegu Gymnasium.

Torralba, who previously played for the Blackwater Bossing in the PBA, was scoreless in less than two minutes of action for Goyang, while Belangel ended up with 14 markers in another losing effort.
