Calvin Epistola struggled offensively, but the Busan KCC Egis still recorded their second consecutive win with a 108-99 beating of the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters in the Korean Basketball League on Monday night at the Busan Sajik Gymnasium.
The Filipino-American forward managed just three points to go with one rebound in 17 minutes of action as a starter as the Egis secured their 19th victory in 34 matches so far.
Heo Woong led the way for Busan with 32 points, including 10 three-point conversions; Ricardo Ratliffe added 23 markers; and Alize Johnson, Junyong Choi, and Song Kyo-chang had 16, 12, and 10 markers, respectively.
“I think we played comfortably for the first time this season. We were able to put in place a big lineup. It went better than I thought. In particular, the defensive rotation was quite good,” said Egis head coach Jeon Chang-jin.
“Johnson also did a good job of carrying out what the team wanted. Concentration was also good. Also, (Heo) Woong’s shooting sense has been good recently. So we were able to do it comfortably. It’s a game that I’m generally satisfied with,” he added.
Robert Carter, Byeongjun Bae, and Jeong Hyo-geun finished with 17 points apiece, while Jonghyun Lee and Seongwon Choi had 12 and 10, respectively, as the defending champion Red Boosters dropped to 13-23.
