Topex Robinson: UAAP Season 87 will be ‘most difficult’ for DLSU

De La Salle University Green Archers head coach Michael “Topex” Robinson stated that the upcoming UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament will be the “most difficult” season for his squad.

According to the second-year DLSU mentor, they will be entering the new season with a much younger roster following the graduation of key veteran players from Season 86.

“We are trying to rebuild something here; this upcoming season will be the most difficult for us because of what’s at stake, pero ‘yun nga, we just focus on what’s in front of us,” Robinson said.

“We always look forward to learning; we do not want to waste time for us to grow as a team kasi we are still a young team. We lost a lot of key guys from last season; lahat ito almost bago,” he added.

Robinson, however, said he likes the progress of the Green Archers as they are dominant in their pre-season matches, including a 98-61 win over the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles in the FilOil EcoOil 17th ECJ Preseason Cup on Sunday night.

“Well, it’s nice. We are looking at options on how we will become a cohesive unit, kaya we are so happy to have these guys who are responding to us,” he said. “We keep reminding these guys not to look at the score and just keep on perpetuating the game.”

“We are trying to make sure that we are disciplined in what we do and try to play it until the last seconds of the game. We are just fortunate that we were winning our games,” Robinson added.
