Shinshu Brave Warriors relegated to Japan B.League Division 2

The Shinshu Brave Warriors, where Rhon Jay Abarrientos plays, will be relegated to the Japan B.League Division 2 next season following their bottom-two finish in the 2023-2024 Division 1 season.

The team, which is being handled by Michael Katsuhisa, struggled the entire season, compiling only 10 victories against 50 defeats for 23rd place overall in the standings.

Other members of the Brave Warriors team are former National University Bulldogs center Matthew Aquino, who is playing as a local, and foreign imports Stanton Kidd, Wayne Marshall, and Deon Thompson.

Also moving down to Division 2 next season is the Toyama Grouses, which only had four victories in 60 games.

Gilas Pilipinas center Ariel John Edu was part of the Grouses roster in the 2023–2024 season until he was released to free agency recently.

Taking the Brave Warriors and the Grouses’ places in Division 1 next season are Division 2 champions Shiga Lakes, led by Filipino guard Kiefer Ravena, and runner-up Koshigaya Alphas.
