SMB’s Romeo, ROS’ Guiao mend fences before Game 4

San Miguel’s Terrence Romeo has apparently extended an olive branch to Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao to make peace after a minor confrontation in Game 3 of their series.

Romeo earned the ire of the Rain or Shine mentor when he attempted a late-game three-pointer despite San Miguel’s sure 117-107 victory in Game 3.

Guiao felt the shot was unnecessary since the result was already evident.

Romeo said that before the start of Game 4, he approached Guiao to apologize.

“Lumapit ako kay coach Yeng and sabi ko, ‘Pasensiya na, hindi ko naman intention na huwag mag-respeto at mambastos.’ Hindi na namin kailangan palakihin ‘yun,” the San Miguel star said in Spin.ph. “Sabi ko nga kung naka-offend ako, nag-sorry naman ako.”

“Wala akong any bad na sasabihin kay coach Yeng, kasi mataas ang respeto ko sa kanya as a coach, kasi he’s really a good coach,” said Romeo.

He added that Guiao had accepted the apology.

“Sabi niya, ‘Ok lang ‘yun. Walang problema,’” said Romeo.

In the end, San Miguel took Game 4, 107-100, to complete a four-game sweep of ROS. The Beermen advanced to the PBA Philippine Cup finals and will await the winner between Ginebra and Meralco.
