NCAA probes alleged referee mauling after St. Benilde-Mapua game

The NCAA Management Committee (Mancom) is investigating an alleged referee mauling incident that occurred after the College of St. Benilde Blazers’ 78-65 win over the Mapua University Cardinals on Saturday night.

A Mancom member stated that they are still working to determine whether the assault was carried out by players, coaching staff members, or spectators.

“We are taking this alleged referee mauling incident seriously, and the NCAA Mancom will issue an official statement once the investigation is done,” an NCAA Mancom told Fastbreak.

According to reports, a referee at the CSB-Mapua game was seen bloodied in the hallway of the SM Mall of Asia Arena’s backstage area and was quickly treated by medical staff.

The Cardinals led for most of the game, but the Blazers mounted a huge fourth-quarter run to tie it at 63 before taking the lead for good.
