Arestado! Maute member facilitating entry of ammunition into Marawi captured

Recent reports stated the Maute-ISIS group are in panic because they are running out of ammunition and were caught "facilitating the entry of ammunition".

Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, spokesman of Task Force Marawi announced on Tuesday the arrest of a Maute group who was caught transporting ammunitions into the conflict-stricken Marawi City.

In their investigation, the said Maute member was sneaking ammunition into Marawi to provide more supply to the terrorist group. Herrera added that the suspected Maute member was also the one transporting wounded militants from the main battle area to south of Lake Lanao.

"Kahapon meron tayong na-capture na isang tao with a bangka... We found out that this captured Maute is the one facilitating the entry of ammunition. Ito rin yung taong nagdadala ng mga wounded galing sa main battle area papunta sa south ng Lanao Lake," Herrera said.

Herrera said that the arrest of the alleged Maute member was a success to cut off the terror's group supply of ammo, establishing a better defense around the lake.

"Ito ay ating na-cut off. Ito ay isang magandang balita sa 'tin dahil naharangan natin ang highway nila. Na-determine natin, nkapag-establish tayo ng depensa sa Lanao Lake," he said.

In a press briefing, the government authorities confirmed the speculations that the members of the terrorist group leaders are wrangling with one another because of the possibility that Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon had escaped away from the conflict zone, causing demoralization to other members.



"Nag-aaway-away na ngayon yung mga leaders nila because of the issue of money, of logistical support [and] yung leadership," Joint Task Force Marawi spokesperson Lt. Col. Jo-Ar Herrera stated during the press briefing.

Another information that the military are still verifying is the report that the Maute members are making their hostages picking up bombs that didn't exploed and bullets to aide their insufficiency in ammo supply.

There is also an indication that one of the Maute brothers, Omarkhayam, is already dead.

Two weeks ago, reports were received by the military that Omar Maute is dead, stated by Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, spokesperson of Joint Task Force Marawi, said in a press conference in Marawi City.

Omar was most likely killed during a gunfight in a possible lair of the Maute group within the Islamic city, however, the government have yet to recover the body from the conflict zone.
