Pacio seizes title back as Brooks disqualified

Joshua Pacio has reclaimed the ONE strawweight title after Jarred Brooks used an illegal maneuver during their title bout at ONE 166 in Qatar.

The trash-talking Brooks immediately seized the advantage by outgrappling Pacio at the onset of the fight.

However, he made the mistake of piledriving Pacio’s head to the mat, rendering the Filipino unconscious and allowing Brooks to pound Pacio with heavy shots.

The referee immediately halted the fight but cited Brooks’ miscue.

Based on ONE’s rules, any throw or takedown that spikes the head or neck to the mat is strictly prohibited.

This led to Brooks’ loss via disqualification.

It was a rematch between the two fighters, with Brooks beating Pacio via unanimous decision in their first meetup.

Fellow Filipino strawweight, Jeremy Miado, was not as fortunate.

Miado got submitted by grappling expert Keito Yamakita by bulldog choke in the first round.
