Chery Tiggo coach Kung Fu on close win over Galeries: ‘Mapapa-thank you Lord ka na lang’

The Chery Tiggo’s come-from-behind 26-24, 23-25, 19-25, 25-12, 15-9 victory against the Galeries Tower Highrisers in the PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference on Thursday night was a sigh of relief for the Crossovers, said head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes.

According to Reyes, the Crossovers had a flat start against the pressure-free Highrisers, but good thing the adjustments they made became effective in the last two sets.

“Mapapa-thank you, Lord, ka na lang sa game,” Reyes said. “Kami ang naghabol and mabuti sa dulo tumama ‘yung adjustments namin, kailangan talaga may mag step up para stable ‘yung galawan ng spikers namin.”

“‘Yung respeto na ibinigay namin kay Galeries mabuti na lang at ibinigay namin kasi ‘yung laro nila eh whatever the result, ine-enjoy na lang nila eh,” added the veteran mentor.

The Crossovers’ seventh consecutive victory allowed them to secure one of the four slots in the single-round robin semifinals round, which will begin on Tuesday, April 30.

“May chance talaga na pwedeng matalo kami anytime kaya kailangang mag adjust and magrecover as a group,” Reyes said. “And ‘yung task na ibinibigay namin sa kanila, nagagawa naman nila.”

The Crossovers are aiming for their first PVL crown since ruling the 2021 bubble tournament at the expense of the Creamline Cool Smashers.
