Ivy Lacsina steps up as new-look Akari trounces Capital1

Ivy Lacsina had a dominant debut for the Akari Power Chargers as they scored a 25-18, 27-25, 22-25, and 25-14 victory over the Capital1 Solar Energy Solar Spikers in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Thursday night at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Lacsina, who was traded to the Power Chargers from sister team the NxLed Chameleons during the offseason, top-scored with 20 points as Akari took an early 1-0 lead in the Pool B standings.

The team’s reinforcement, Oly Okaro, contributed 16 points, built on 14 attacks, one block, and a service ace; Celine Domingo contributed eight points; and Gretchel Soltones and Camille Victoria ended with six points apiece for Akari.

After failing to close out the Solar Spikers in the third set, the Power Chargers went on a strong start in the fourth set, establishing an 18-10 lead before holding off Capital1’s attempted run in the end.

Okaro said in a post-game interview that she is still adjusting to her role with the Power Chargers.

“I am trying to utilize my body because I am long and I have a big jump, so I am just trying to be patient,” Okaro said. “I had to make so many adjustments during the game.”

Marina Tushova was the lone double-digit scorer for the Solar Spikers with 20 points, while Iris Tolenada and Lourdes Clemente ended with seven markers apiece.
